Tourism stakeholders not supportive of TCB’s stand on fast-tracking the implementation of ‘One Tourism System’.

While all stakeholders in the tourism sector are in support of the new "One Tourism Policy", some are skeptical of the time-frame set for its implementation. Some stakeholders are suggesting that the Tourism Council of Bhutan should take more than five years to implement the new policy. Last month TCB said it is planning to fast-track the implementation of the policy by around five years ahead of the set time-frame.

No pay revision for those in construction sector, Build Bhutan Project

It was a hard blow for those working in the construction sector through the Build Bhutan Project (BBP) when the promised wage revision turned out to be everything but that. The labour ministry announced the attractive revision in January this year. More than a thousand registered with the BBP eagerly waited for the revision which was supposed to be in effect from last month.

Court denies bail to Khamdang-Ramjar MP, T/Yangtse

The Trashi Yangtse district court denied bail to the Member of Parliament of Khamdang_Ramjar constituency in Trashi Yangtse and his nephew. The police detained them yesterday. According to sources, they were arrested following the alleged construction of an illegal road on 27th September last year. Four others including the Khamdang Mangmi who are also involved in the case were arrested a few months ago. But they are out on bail. 

DoR to blacktop the 7-km road in Durungri village, Pema Gatshel

With an increasing number of commuters travelling along the Pema Gatshel-Nganglam highway, dust pollution has plagued the residents of Durungri village under Dungmaed Gewog in Pema Gatshel for a long time now. And the situation gets worst especially during the winter season. However, the matter is expected to be resolved soon, as the works to blacktop the 7-km road will begin this month.

People in Tsakaling village rely on private water sources for drinking water, Tsirang

Every community across the country has a tale to share on their struggle to safe and reliable drinking water supply. Tsakaling village under Patshaling Gewog in Tsirang is no exception.
