Farm roads to reach two remote Gewogs of Zhemgang soonShingkhar and Bardo are the last two Gewogs in Zhemgang that are still not connected with farm road. But, it won’t be long before the two Gewogs are connected to their centres by farm road. The construction of farm road from Buli to Shingkhar and Bardo Gewogs has been fraught with delays since it began in 2007. Finally, much to the delight of the villagers, the works are said to be progressing well.

The road has now reached the Thairang bridge over Chamkharchhu. The farm road parts ways to respective villages from the other side of Chamkharchhu.

Though it took a long time for the road to reach the point where it has today, villagers said the present progress has benefited them a lot. It has reduced walking distance. The Gewogs are now a day’s walk from Thairang Bridge.

Thairang Bridge is crucial because it connects the farm roads to Shingkhar and Bardo aFarm roads to reach two remote Gewogs of Zhemgang soon.nd the people of the two Gewogs are awaiting the completion of the bridge.

“We don’t have problem of road access but bridge over Chamkharchu has handicapped most of development works and we are anticipating for a bridge to complete soon. Otherwise, most of the problems of two Geogs will be solved,” said Sonam, former Gup, Shingkhar Gewog.

The department of roads officials said the bridge would be ready by the end of this month if everything goes well.

Bardo and Shingkhar Gewogs are the last two gewogs in Zhemang waiting to be connected with farm road as well as electricity. Once the bridge is ready, the transportation of electrification materials to the two Gewogs will also begin. The materials are at present lying on the banks of Chamkharchu.
