17-year-old student boy has been sentenced to 24 years in prison by the Tsirang District Court for murdering a 24-year-old man on Friday. The incident occurred in April last year. The defendant, a class 11 student, stabbed a driver.

Meanwhile, a resident in Damphu, who sold alcohol to the defendant without a bar license was also fined with Nu. 9,000 in lieu of three months in prison.

The defendant’s parents also paid Nu. 70,000 to the victim’s family.

Nine years for rape of a minor

Also on Friday, a 34-year-old man in Tsirang has been sentenced to nine years in prison for rape of a minor. The verdict was passed by the Tsirang District court on Firday.

The incident took place in June this year. The defendant was involved in the minor of a 17-year-old disabled and paralyzed minor in front of her house in Tsirang-Toe.

Four men, including the victim’s father, were also sentenced to 3 months each in prison for failing to report the crime.

Since they have already spent one and half months in police custody, they were released after paying money in lieu of the remaining prison term.
