USA’s Ambassador to India calls on PM

PMThe Ambassador of the United States of America to India, Kathleen Stephens and her delegation called on the Prime Minister at the Raven House on Tuesday evening.

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay said he looks forward to participating in the United Nations Leadership Programme where leaders of various nations come together every year and share their experiences.

Lyonchhen requested the Ambassador to reconsider increasing the number of fellowship programs especially for undergraduate courses in the United States.

Ambassador Stephens said she would commit to explore and catalyze support and private funding for such programmes.

Lyonchhen also informed that Bhutan was participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions for the first time this year and the ambassador thanked Lyonchhen for Bhutan’s contribution in building the United Nations’ capacity in peacekeeping. She said that it was a great symbol and evidence of Bhutan’s readiness to play its role in maintaining peace and in the world.
