Nearly 5,000 stranded people in Thimphu following the lockdown on 20th of last month have left home, as of today. More than 10,600 stranded people had registered with the Public Service Call Centre 1010. The Centre facilitated the travel arrangements in coordination with the respective districts. All the travellers were tested prior to their departure.

The Public Service Call Centre stopped facilitating movements of those stranded beginning Monday this week as Thimphu started its mass testing. According to the Centre, most of whom are still in Thimphu are now waiting for the lockdown to be lifted.

However, with the north and south mega zones declared green, the centre is now facilitating stranded people from the green zones. The centre is facilitating the testing and registration on the Check Post Management System (CPMS). The CPMS tracks movements of vehicles and people through a formal point of entries and exits at checkpoints within the districts.

Most of the stranded people were from Chhukha, Paro, Punakha and Wangdue Phodrang.

They had come for funerals, medical treatments and official meetings.
