A 45-year-old non-Bhutanese worker with one of the construction companies of Mangdechhu Hydropower Plant in Trongsa is under custody for attempting to rape a female Desuup.
The incident happened at around 8 pm on the 25th of last month.
According to sources, the woman who is a Desuup on duty at one of the COVID-19 checkpoints in Trongsa was returning to her post from a temporary shelter when the suspect allegedly followed her and touched her inappropriately. The suspect was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.
The suspect was arrested on the same night.
Meanwhile, the Trongsa Court yesterday issued a remand order for the accused to be under police custody for 21 days due to the lockdown and court being unable to continue with court proceedings at this juncture.
