Residents of Rabdeyling Demkhong in Gelegphu are confused with the usage of the lockdown movement cards. But so are the authorities who are deployed in the area. Most of them received the passes but some are still not allowed to come out while some are allowed.

“They have started issuing card since Monday. We were informed that the system will be implemented by the 1st of this month. Today evening I came out for a walk but Desuup and police on duty asked us to not to move around since there is no instruction from concern authority,” said Tshering Nidup from Rabdeyling Demkhong in Gelegphu.

Like him, many residents in the Demkhong are not sure whether they are allowed to come out or not. Some residents say they are waiting for the official announcement on BBS TV.

The distribution of movement passes was started from the 30th of last month. Desuups reached the passes to each household.

However, some residents in the same Demkhong were informed that they can come out as per the timing on their cards within the designated area when they received the passes.

“After issuing the card, we were told that we are permitted to come out as er the timing. They didn’t inform us that we are not allowed to go. I don’t how about other groups, but we were given clear instruction,” said Dorji Wangchuk, from the same Demkhong.

Similarly, some residents from the same Demkhong shared that they were given permission to come out once they received the movement passes.

“We have been inside for too long, and after getting the cards we are happy that we were allowed to come out,” said Dorji Phintsho.

And according to the Dzongda, who is also the incident commander of the COVID-19 Task Force in the district, people who received the movement cards are allowed to come out and move around within their designated area. He added some have already started coming out using the card.

The distributions of movement cards are underway in the respective zones under Gelegphu thromde and they expect to complete by today. Sarpang Dzongkhag is divided into three zones, town zones (Gelephu Thromde) buffer zone and gewogs.
