Yonphula Domestic Airport in Trashigang will not be ready for flight operations in October as scheduled. The airport has been undergoing renovation.
The airport has been closed to air traffic since October, 2013.
Black-topping of the airstrip had to be put on hold because of heavy rainfall, recently.
The Director of the Department of Air Transport, Karma Wangchuk said they postponed the renovation so that they maintain the quality of runway’s black-topping.
He said if the weather continues to improve they expect the blacktopping to be complete by December.
The renovation, costing Nu 200 M, funded by the Asian Development Bank, began in April last year.
The airport was first opened to flight operations in December, 2011.
