Basketball federation renew its MoU with Pepsi

The Bhutan Basketball Federation (BBF) will receive Nu 1m from Pepsi annually for the next three years starting next year.

The support comes under the three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two, which has been renewed for another three years. Under the earlier MoU, the federation received only Nu 700,000 from Pepsi.

Under the renewed MoU, Pepsi will also sponsor the B-League Basketball Championship. Earlier, Pepsi only sponsored the A-League championship.

“With the sponsorship, we are hopeful that we will be able do better than last year, especially the B league. We can do more marketing and maybe increase the prize money for the champions,” said Lhendup, the Planning Officer of the Bhutan Basketball Federation.

The federation hopes the sponsorship of the B League will encourage more basketball players to take part in the championships.

The Pepsi A and B leagues, the Coronation Cup and departmental tournaments are the major tournaments that the federation organizes every year.

Meanwhile, the federation will rename Pepsi A League as the Pepsi Pro-League from next year.
