A Nonprofit organisation from the US, Helping Hands-Health and Education, is conducting a week-long health camp in Punakha Hospital.
Over 200 patients have already come for a checkup since the camp began Wednesday.
The camp that has 11 members is carrying out general checkups and pediatric, among others.
President and founder of the NGO, Narayan Shrestha said Bhutan is the sixth country they are conducting the health camp in. The other countries, he said, include Nepal and Namibia, among others.
The camp is also providing special checkups for the children. “Our objective here is to to provide special pediatric and primary health care to the children at this hospital and overall we are trying to provide specialise service to the people of this district,” said Medical student, Michelle Kerr.
During the week-long camp, the team will also visit Samdingkha BHU under Toewang Gewog and one of the remote schools in Punakha, Wolathang Primary School.
The camp is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
