Sales tax and custom duty revision revised

The Ministry of Finance says that vehicles for which order has been placed and advances paid to the dealers on or before June 16 will not be charged the revised customs duty and sales tax that came into effect on June 17.

However, the customers should submit to the concerned regional revenue and customs office the original copy of money receipts for advance payment made. It should also confirm with the list already submitted by the dealers to the Department of Revenue and Customs.

If the conditions stated are fulfilled, the department will refund the excess amount of tax that has been collected.

However, the ministry says vehicles ordered for stocking purpose by the authorized dealers on or before June 16 shall be liable to pay the revised rates.
