The Langchenphu Bridge in Lhuentse, that collapsed one day prior to its completion, has been rebuilt. The 140 feet long bridge collapsed on January 15 after the launching nose of the bridge broke.
The renovated bridge was formally consecrated and inaugurated yesterday.
The Chazam’s Tshogpa, Phuntsho Gayden, said the bridge will directly benefit 35 households of Chazam Chiwog. “Earlier when the suspension bridge was washed away we had to walk over five hours. The bridge shortens the distance to two hours.”
During the inauguration, the bridge also was tested. Heavy vehicles were made to ply over the bridge. It has a carrying capacity of 24 tons.
The bridge is built by the Construction Development Corporation Limited.
Meanwhile, on the same day, an 80 feet long Phawgang Bridge was also inaugurated.
