A flash flood in Damji in Gasa early this morning has caused several damages. The flood has washed away sub-high way, huge area of wet and dry land including about 15 acres of paddy fields. Several houses and makeshift houses have also been damaged. The flood struck around 2 this morning.

Our reporter, Sonam Tobgyel, says electric poles have been washed away disrupting power supply. No casualties have been reported.

The flash flood also washed away two permanent bridges between Phuntshogang and Damji and the bazam for the mules.

Road blocks have been reported at Goen Zamina in Gasa and Yemina in Punakha, about four kilometres from Tashithang.

Damage assessment is underway.

The flash flood has increased the volume of Mochhu River. Our reporter says people have been seen collecting fish washed ashore by the swollen river. Doctors say it is unhealthy to consume fish from floodwater. It can be contaminated and can cause food poisoning.
