RCSC starts implementing work from home strategy

Beginning today, Royal Civil Service Commission has started implementing work from home strategy in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. This comes after directives from the government to support social distancing. Meanwhile, strategies have been put in place to ensure that critical and essential services are not interrupted.

The RCSC employs the biggest workforce in the country. There are more than 30,000 civil servants including health workers and teachers in the country. RCSC has encouraged agencies to prepare civil servants to work from home and start rolling out the plans immediately. The Director shared that agencies can group services based on three categories to accelerate the implementation of continuing the service delivery.

The Director shared that RCSC has shared guidelines and protocols, which the agencies can customise to initiate their respective work from home plans. RCSC has asked agencies to prepare plans for the next three months.

To begin with, RCSC secretariat has directed pregnant women, women who have children below two years and individuals with underlying medical condition to work from home.
