City addressing system gets underway

Without a proper address, locating an exact place in Thimphu has always been difficult and challenging. To make this easier, the Bhutan Postal Corporation and the Thimphu Thromde is coming up with city addressing system.  As a pilot project, they are setting up mailboxes in identified areas.

38,000 of the 50,000 dogs sterilised and vaccinated

The Department of Livestock launched the second phase of the National Dog Population Management and Rabies Control project today. It was launched after the successful completion of first phase of the project. The first phase of the project was launched in September 2009. In the phase, over 38,000 dogs of the 50,000 dogs were sterilised and vaccinated.

9 temporary sheds razed, lost all belongings

Nine temporary sheds were razed to the ground by a fire last night in Wangduephodrang. The sheds was used by the employees of the sawmill at Bajothang-gu. They lost all their belongings in the fire.

His Majesty attends Salhang Tendrel

(Road block update): Fresh slide last evening have blocked Gelegphu-Zhemgang highway at Tarala, three kilometres from Zhemgang towards Gelegphu. It is said to be a major block which could take days to clear.

Farm road no use during monsoon

Although Seng-Gey Gewog is connected with a farm road, it remains almost inaccessible during the monsoon. To visit the Gewog Centre, one has to cross four streams, which swells during the monsoon.
