Book inspired by Her Majesty the Royal grandmother launched

A book titled, “Zangdok Palri - The Lotus Light Palace of Guru Rinpoche: Visions of the Buddhist Paradise in the Sacred Kingdom of Bhutan”, was launched in the capital today. The book is inspired by Her Majesty the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Kesang Choeden Wangchuck.

Bhutan has been elected as one of the vice chairs of the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which began in the capital city of Iran, Tehran, yesterday.

More tested positive for influenza A

A child, four students and a teacher of Ramjar Lower Secondary School in Trashiyangtse were tested positive for influenza A. The confirmation came after the health staff from Trashiyangtse hospital tested 12 blood samples from 90 people who had come to hospital with flu like symptoms. Of the four students, one was tested for influenza A from Trashigang hospital.

PM meets Iranian President

The Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley met with the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, soon after arriving in Tehran, the capital city of Iran, yesterday. Lyonchhoen is in Tehran to attend the 16th summit of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM).

First woman Dzongda assumes office

The country’s first woman Dzongda, Ngawang Pem, officially assumed office today. His Majesty the King had appointed her as Tsirang Dzongda on the 26th of last month.
