A novel, entitled The Morning Sun, based on a true story of a young Bhutanese mother with a son suffering from cerebral palsy,  has hit the book stands in Thimphu.

Authored by Monu Tamang, the book revolves around the life and struggles of 32-year-old Sonam Yangki.  The novel takes readers on an emotional roller-coaster ride as it recounts the struggles of being a parent to a child born with cerebral palsy.

At the launch of the book yesterday, Sonam Yangki who is also the publisher of the book, told tearfully that she hopes the book will help parents with disabled children understand that their children needs great care and support from them.

The book also talks about the hardships Sonam Yangki endured as a child and chronicles her journey from a road sweeper to a club singer and an entrepreneur finally. She also hopes the story of her struggles will inspire others like her and give them a hope to carry on with their life.

By sharing her story, she says she would like to tell particularly the youth that positive attitude is all that is needed to move forward in life.

Author Monu Tamang said it’s an extraordinary story and he thought it deserves to be heard by the people.

The proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to needy children in the country.
