Winter Youth Programme begins under the command of His MajestyUnder the command of His Majesty the King, a month-long Winter Youth Engagement Programme, for the six eastern regions, began in Gyalpoizhing, Monggar, today. The programme, this time, is targeting female students, to engage them in meaningful activities during their winter break.

Many young female students in the remote areas work at construction sites and seek temporary jobs so to be able to pay for their education. In doing so, they are often exposed to exploitations. The programme is to equip the students with life skills so to be able handle such situations.

WinterYouthCamp-Monggar.During the month-long programme, the participants will be engaged in academic activities. The experts, including some from outside the country, will be giving counselling sessions, on various issues.

Their day will begin at 6am and will continue till 9pm every day. More than 400 girls from six eastern Dzongkhags are taking part in the programme.

The programme was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Yeshey Dorji. It is being organised by the Department of Youth and Sports under the education ministry.
