Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked to Delhi after a two-day state visit to Bhutan. His Majesty The King travelled to Paro this morning to personally bid farewell to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport. Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay accompanied His Majesty The King.

Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed to Bhutan on his third visit as Prime Minister of India. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi received the Order of Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan’s highest civilian honour, which was conferred to him in 2021, from His Majesty The King.

Speaking at the award ceremony yesterday, His Majesty said that the award to Prime Minister Modi symbolizes the deep appreciation towards the government of India, the people of India, and to Prime Minister Modi, for always being there for Bhutan.

In a series of posts on his social media pages, while departing the country, Prime Minister Modi described his visit to Bhutan as “very special”, and said that he was honoured by His Majesty’s special gesture of coming to the airport.

He also thanked the people of Bhutan for their warm welcome. Prime Minister Modi’s fruitful visit to Bhutan has further cemented the ties between Bhutan and India.
