Two traditional houses were damaged in a fire in Korphu village in Trongsa. Both the houses were two storied. The fire has completely gutted one of the houses and partially damaged the other.

The fire started around 6 pm yesterday and raged on until 2 this morning. Students and government officials working in the village helped the villagers contain the fire.

The cause of fire has not been ascertained. It is suspected to have started from butter lamps.

Meanwhile, the Dzongkhag officials along with Trongsa Dzongda, and police visited the site this morning.

The Dzongda, over a telephone interview, said along with basic necessary kits, kidu from the Gyalpoi Zimpoen’s office were also handed over to the affected families.
