A fierce windstorm damaged acres of maize fields in five chiwogs of Chhimoong gewog under Pemagatshel at around 7:30 am on Thursday. “Some of the farmers in Chhimoong gewog have been badly affected,” said the gewog’s mangmi.

Roofs of two Lhakhangs and a house were also blown off. Rooftop of another house was partially damaged.

According to the gewog admistration officer, they are estimating the extent of damage caused by the windstorm.

Some of the villages are days walk from the gewog center which the officials say, is making it difficult for them come to an immediate conclusion on the extent of damages.

The Dzongkhag has distributed tarpaulin to the affected families.
