To promote and encourage the production of local products, the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched several products today at the Clock Tower in Thimphu. The products were launched as a part of the ‘Thematic Exhibition on Bhutanese Handicraft and Infracom 2022.’

The exhibition showcases several products ranging from potato chips to detergent, and light lamps, among others.

Brand Bhutan, an initiative of the Department of Trade to promote exports, also launched products such as natural colours, textiles, and mineral pigments.

“Today, we have launched about 25 products which have been approved for made in Bhutan mark under the Brand Bhutan umbrella.  We actually received about 70 products for made in Bhutan mark but after judging the products, we could approve only 25 products. When we participate in such an exhibition, it will help us reach out to our audience,” said Reshma Tamang, Brand Bhutan’s Project Manager.

“The BCCI gave us this platform and this exhibition can help a lot in marketing. When it comes to marketing, I feel that a day of such an exhibition will have an impact equivalent to four years of marketing,” said Karma Gayleg, the Proprietor of Kewa Chips and Home Products.

The exhibition also has more than 30 stalls showcasing different products of indigenous arts and crafts, local building materials, and hardware items.

According to the officials of the BCCI, such an exhibition will give a platform for the new business entities to market and promote their products.

Themed “Reviving to reinventing businesses to wave over COVID-19 pandemic”, the exhibition is an effort to revive businesses battered by the pandemic.

“Every business has been affected by the pandemic all over the world. So, we, being the chamber of commerce, and the apex body of the private sector, would like to create a platform for the businesses to revive,” said Deki Choden, the Head of Events and Resource Division of the BCCI.

The three-day exhibition will end on Sunday.
