Her Majesty Gyalyum Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, the President and Founder of the Tarayana Foundation received Nu 2 M in cash donation from Dasho Ugen Dorji, the Chairman of Lhaki Companies, at the Tarayana Centre today. According to the Foundation, the donation will go towards empowering the most vulnerable and remote rural communities via the Foundation’s social and economic development programmes.

Tarayana is a non-profit organisation registered as a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) working in remote, rural villages to bring about holistic community growth and development serving needy communities. The Foundation serves to bridge the gaps between larger national initiatives and local grassroots requirements. It focuses on social mobilization, capacity building and empowerment processes wherein communities make the main decisions for change they want to be affected in their villages.

Tarayana is currently working in 450 villages across 91 blocks in 20 districts reaching out close to a 200,000 rural population directly or indirectly.
