With no positive cases detected from the South Mega-zone in Thimphu during the ongoing mass testing, it is now declared as a ‘yellow zone’. The residents in these areas will be allowed to come out from tomorrow. This is in line with the zone-wise relaxation of the lockdown in Thimphu. Close to 6,000 residents were tested in the zone. All tested negative.

The mega-zone includes Tshalumaphey, Tshalu Barp, Semtokha, Babesa, Serbithang, Debsi, Gangchey-Nyezergang and Royal Thimphu College area. It starts from Olarongchhu workshop and covers all areas until STCBL fuel site.

The relaxation allows the movement of people within the mega zone from 5 am to 5 pm without having to carry movement cards. Activities like jogging, walking and cycling within the mega zone are allowed with the restriction on the movement of unauthorised vehicles.

Besides designated shops, outlets dealing with vegetable, livestock,  dairy products, groceries, and pharmacy are also allowed to open.  However, people will not be allowed to cross the boundary of the mega zone.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry will complete the sample collection of the remaining zones by tomorrow.
