The space to play and learn tennis has remained the same ever since the sport was introduced in the country in 1974. There are three lawn tennis courts in the capital.
The sport facility is not big enough to cater to participants who turn up in droves during tennis coaching camps.
The players are then divided into groups and allocated different timing to use the courts. But players say it would be difficult for them to excel in the sport in this continues.
Many believe they would be able to do justice to the sport if they have more facilities and time to practice.
Lack of professional coach is yet another hurdle. There are only three tennis coaches in the country.

“We have only two full time coaches based in Thimphu. But we do have three additional part time coaches too. All of us are not trained enough to help get the players to international Tournaments,” said the Tennis Coach of Bhutan Tennis Federation, Yonten Gyeltshen.
H said they haven’t been able to provide individual attention to the best players.
The Secretary General of Bhutan Olympic Committee, Sonam Tshering said currently there is no land available to extend the tennis courts. But there are plans to construct courts where the Dzongkhag office currently stands.
