Tracked excavator for Memelakha

Excavator-MemelakhaThe officials from the Japanese embassy handed over a large tracked excavator for Memelakha landfill to the Thimphu Thrompon, today.

The grant, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects, is from the Japan’s foreign ministry.

The excavator will be used reclamation work at the landfill.

Thimphu Thrompon, Kinlay Dorjee, said the excavator will be stationed at Memelakha all the time.Excavator-Memelakha.

“…We don’t want to see Memelakha like in the past where all the plastics are and things are blown off, and scattered. It has even come down to the road. This excavator will definitely help us in better management of the land,” said Kinlay Dorjee.

The Second Secretary of Agriculture and Bhutanese Affairs, Taniguchi Hideki, said on behalf of the government and people of Japan, he would like to express their pleasure that the Thromde has successfully inducted the tracked excavator under the Grant Assistance.

He said he expects the City that excavator will help improve waste management capacity and their support strengthen the friendship between Bhutan and Japan.
