Drukair calls off five proposed charter flights between Paro and Tel Aviv

Proposed direct flights between Bhutan and Israel will not go ahead. Drukair has decided not to operate five planned charter flights between Tel Aviv and Paro after assessing the safety and security risks. The flights were proposed for February and March next year.

The development follows a report in ‘The Jerusalem Post on 4th October, which announced five direct charter flights between Tel Aviv and Paro in February and March next year.

According to the report, the flights were to be organised by Israeli travel company Caminos, with tour packages marketed to Israeli travellers.

However, Drukair has clarified that the proposed operation will not proceed.

According to Drukair’s Chief Executive Officer, the airline received a request for five charter flights between Tel Aviv and Paro with about 110 passengers planned on each flight, in the first quarter of 2027.

Following its standard safety, security and quality assessment, the airline determined that the proposed operation was not advisable and informed the charterer that it could not proceed.

Drukair has also clarified that the travel company was responsible for marketing and selling individual passenger tickets. The airline was not directly involved in those sales.

Drukair has further stated that it has no plans to introduce scheduled flights between Tel Aviv and Paro without a formal Air Service Agreement between Bhutan and Israel.

The airline said it applies the same safety and security assessment process for all. Charter flight proposals.

As a result, the five proposed charter flights between Tel Aviv and Paro will not operate as planned.

Travellers who may have booked or considered packages linked to the route have been advised to check directly with the travel organiser for the status of their bookings.
