The government has received nearly 25 billion ngultrum from Druk Holding and Investments in the form of dividends, taxes, and royalties in 2025. This is an increase of over 13 per cent compared to the previous financial year.
Druk Holding and Investments, the country’s largest state-owned investment company’s contribution to the government‘s coffer comes in the form of dividends, taxes, and royalties from its group companies.
In 2024, DHI contributed more than Nu 21.9bn.
According to the company, it recorded a profit after tax of over Nu 18.2bn in 2025, the company’s highest-ever annual profit
The Energy and Resources sector, particularly hydropower, drove most of the profits, supported by newly commissioned projects. The sector generated nearly Nu 66.8bn in revenue.
Despite hydropower remaining the main revenue source, DHI says it is working to reduce its dependence on the hydropower. It plans to invest in solar and geothermal energy, as well as digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and other emerging areas.
Real Estate and Construction contributed the least, with revenue of around 1.8 billion ngultrum.
Among individual companies, Druk Green Power Corporation was the highest dividend contributor, while Menjong Sorig Pharmaceuticals Limited contributed the least.
DHI says its earnings are channeled back into public services, infrastructure development, and other national priorities.
The organisation currently employs around 10,000 people across 25 group companies.
