The iconic ChoeGo Building in Gelephu Mindfulness City is set to house a premium boutique hotel. ChoeGo Boutique is expected to begin operations in November, following a hospitality development agreement signed between the GMC Authority and BTCL Private Limited yesterday.
The ChoeGo Building is taking shape as one of the defining landmarks of Gelephu Mindfulness City. And now, its second and third floors will be transformed into a 27-room premium boutique hotel, adding to the city’s growing hospitality infrastructure.
The development agreement is the first hospitality partnership signed by the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority.
“We take immense pride in being selected as the first premium hotel to operate in ChoeGo GMC amongst so many capable hoteliers in the country,” said Thinley Wangchuk Dorji, BTCL Pte Limited’s Managing Director.
“And we also want to rededicate ourselves to His Majesty’s transformative vision of GMC. And from our side, we would like to commit our hundred per cent to ensure this premium hotel will deliver all aspects for now and as well as into the future.”
BTCL is an established name in Bhutan’s tourism and hospitality industry. It currently manages more than 300 hotel rooms across the country, along with restaurants and cafés in major tourism destinations.
For the GMC Authority, the ChoeGo Building is more than just a commercial space. It is expected to set the benchmark for the quality and standards envisioned for the new city.
“For us, ChoeGo GMC is a very important building for us. It is a building that will showcase the standards that GMC will show to the rest of the city and country. And now, with BTCL taking over the management of levels two and three to establish a premium boutique, that expectation will continue with them,” said Rabsel Dorji, the managing director of Tourism Development Group, GMCA.
ChoeGo Boutique is among more than 15 defining companies planned for the building. Envisioned as a mixed-use landmark, ChoeGo will bring together business, hospitality, lifestyle and other services under one roof.
With operations expected to begin in November, the boutique hotel is expected to become one of the first premium accommodation options in GMC, supporting its ambition to position Gelephu as a high-quality destination for visitors, businesses and investors.
