Dorji Lopen appoints lams

The Dorji Lopen of the Central Monastic Body appointed Lampoen and Jala Umze of the Zhung Dratshang and three Lams of various monastic centers in the country. They were conferred dhar at the Punakha Dzong today.

Kencho Dorji from Ruebisa in Wangdue Phodrang has been conferred Dhar as the new Lampoen of Zhung Dratshang. He received oral transmission and teachings from various religious masters including His Holiness the Je Khenpo, His Holiness the late 68th Je Khenpo, Drupwang Karma Jurmi, and the current Dorji Lopen. He had completed his three-year retreat from Pangkarpo Drupdey in Punakha. He served as Mi-Nyipa in Zhung Budrel prior to his present post.

Similarly, 40-year-old Rinchen from Tsento in Paro is the new Jala Umze of Zhung Dratshang. Prior to his present post, he served as a Lampoen in Zhung Dratshang. He joined the monastic school at the age of seven and studied at Dechenphodrang Monastic School. He then served in Zhung Budrel. He also received teachings from several religious masters including His Holiness the Je Khenpo and the Dorji Lopen, Drupwang Karma Jurmi and the late Dralop Kinley Gyeltshen. He had completed his three-year retreat from Pangkarpo Drupdey.

The new Lam of Chagi Yangchen Gatshel Buddhist School in Wangdue Phodrang is 40-year-old Kinzang Dorji from Kazhi in Wangdue Phodrang. He had joined the monkhood at the age of seven in Dechenphodrang Monastic School and graduated from Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. He also completed his three-year retreat from Tshamdrak Goenpa and served as teacher at Chagi Yangchen Gatshel Buddhist School prior to the present post.

Likewise, 36-year-old Ugyen Tshering is the new Lam of Chamgang Samdenchoeling Lhakhang in Thimphu. He is from Ruebisa in Wangdue Phodrang. He had joined the monk body at the age of 11 in the Central Monastic Body and graduated from Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. He also received teachings from several religious masters including His Holiness the Je Khenpo and His Holiness the late 68th Je Khenpo. Prior to the present post, he served as a teacher in some schools.

46-year-old Dago Dorji from Dogar in Paro will now serve as the Lam of Jabar Yangchued Goenpa in Paro. He had joined the Central Monastic Body at the age of five and graduated from Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. He had also completed three-year retreat from Chari Drupdey in Thimphu and served as a teacher in the Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. Prior to this post, he served as a Kangjub of Lha Remati in Tashichhodzong.
