The Thimphu Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old man at Jungshina. According to the police, the man died after falling from a building last week in what is believed to have been an attempted burglary.

It was almost 2 AM when the North Thimphu Police Station received a call from a homeowner in Jungshina, reporting that a man was lying in a pool of blood outside his building.

The man was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead from severe head injuries sustained after falling from the building.

According to the police, the deceased is believed to have entered the apartment at around 1:45 AM through an open kitchen window after climbing up the back of the building. The apartment was occupied by a woman and her daughter, who is a minor.

Police said the man allegedly ransacked the altar room and inappropriately touched the girl, who was sleeping there. When the girl screamed, her mother was alerted. The man then reportedly climbed out of the altar’s window and stood on a window sill. And when the mother shouted in panic, he allegedly fell from the building.

Police investigations revealed CCTV footage showing the man near the building holding a beer can.  Shoe prints were also found inside the altar room.

Police are awaiting a post-mortem report of the deceased for further investigation.
