The Royal Institute of Governance and Strategic Studies, RIGSS, launched a mobile leadership programme in Nganglam, Pema Gatshel yesterday. The two-day training programme aims to develop essential leadership skills in public servants working in the districts.

The leadership programme has sessions on leadership, followership, communication and presentation skills, professionalism, organisational culture, and leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT to enhance efficiency and productivity.

According to RIGSS, the course is designed to encourage more participants in the districts to join, thus providing better coverage.

The course is also aimed at achieving a balance between wealth and cultural development in the country.

“We intend to enhance the skills of the public servants. Especially in terms of essential leadership skills and other skills, which will be beneficial to the transformation efforts. And, in achieving the mission of a developed Bhutan as envisioned by His Majesty The King,” said Sigay Dem, Sr Programme Officer of the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies.

During the programme, participants learned new ideas and perspectives that helped develop their cognitive abilities, helping in changing their mindsets.

Participants said that they look forward to implementing the knowledge gained to improve the quality of their service delivery.

“In Pema Gatshel and in Nganglam, schools, hospitals and all regional offices would be shining examples of high-achieving organisations. And I think this is something all of us must ensure that we must fulfil,” said Tashi Dawa, Pema Gatshel Dzongda.

“We are very much optimistic. We are optimistic that the mindset would change. And the participants will be able to deal with the people much smarter and efficient manner,” said Pelzang, Chief District Education Officer.

Over 170 participants from various sectors took part in the training at the Nganglam Central School.

The training programme for the second cohort of public servants under the district is scheduled in Denchhi on Thursday and Friday.

The institute plans to take the programme to all other districts.
