The Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology, GCIT will now provide specialised training to the National Land Commission Secretariat, NLCS for the commission’s digital upskilling programme. To this effect, a partnership agreement was signed yesterday between the two entities in Thimphu.

The partnership is expected to enhance the technical proficiency of NLCS and also enrich the experience of GCIT students. The trainings will be given by students and staff of the GCIT.

“As emphasised by His Majesty The King in the Royal Address during the 116th National Day, upskilling all the people in Bhutan is one of the three top priorities. The agreement is timely, as GCIT will support NLC’s technology and digitalisation requirements, enhancing capacity building. This collaboration will directly benefit our staff and students who represent the future of Bhutan,” said Audrey Low, the President of Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology.

“We have been increasingly moving, leveraging technology to deliver services on something as critical as land, which is a vital issue for all sectors, whether it is the private or the public. So in this respect, NLCS is strongly committed to continue leveraging technology on how we can better deliver services, but more importantly, how we can take proactive measures to address various issues arising from the issue of land use and land management,” said Tshering Gyaltshen Penjor, the Secretary of NLCS.

The partnership is expected to empower the professional growth of about 150 NLCS staff. The trainings will be carried out in the coming months.
