To strengthen the collaboration in information and technology, Singapore and Bhutan signed a government to government Memorandum of Understanding, today.

The agreement is expected to pave way for developing ICT manpower and expertise in Bhutan through series of projects.

The Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communications, Dasho Kinley Dorji, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, Ronnie Tay, signed the MoU.

The IDA International, a subsidiary of IDA and Temasek Foundation jointly with MoIC will train Bhutanese the leadership capability building programme among others.

IDA international serves as the execution arm for collaborations on public service infocomm between Singapore and countries around the world.

Ronnie Tay said the signing of MoU provides a platform for IDA and MOIC to come together to share experiences and ideas and see how ICT can be used to carry out different function.

The Temasek Foundation has committed a grant of about 500,000 Singaporean dollars for an 18 month programme for 400 government officials to develop and implement National ICT master plan.

Since June this year about 220 senior government officials have been engaged in developing the e-government master plan.

The Director of Temasek Foundation also handed over the IDA International Capacity Development project milestone report to the secretary of the MoIC.

The Prime Minister In-charge, Yeshey Zimba and the minister of Information and communications, Nanda Lal Rai were also present at the signing.

Meanwhile, about 350 ICT professionals around the country are attending the ICT conference.
