Zhemgang nominates five candidates for NC elections

Zhemgang residents have nominated five individuals to contest the upcoming National Council elections. The Dhamngoi Dzomdu in the district ended yesterday.

Tshering Yeshi from Trong village will contest the National Council election from Bjoka Gewog. The 46-year-old was the gewog’s lone aspiring candidate and secured 185 Yes votes and 1 No vote.

Similarly, Sonam Leki was the only aspiring NC candidate in Nangkor Gewog. He secured 263 Yes votes and 70 No votes. The 43- year-old is from Tsheldang village.

And in Ngangla Gewog, the people voted in favour of Tshering Tshomo. She secured 225 Yes votes and 20 Nos.

The 39-year-old is also the only female aspiring candidate from Zhemgang. She is from Sonamthang.

49-year-old Samphel Dendup will be representing Phangkhar Gewog in the upcoming NC elections. He was the only aspiring candidate in the Dhamngoi Zomdu.

He secured 203 Yes votes and 21 No votes. He is from Pantang village.

And Trong Gewog nominated 42-year-old Thinley Jamtsho from Wangduegang. He was the lone aspiring candidate to take part in the Dhamngoi Zomdu. He secured 265 Yes votes and 1 No vote.

The three Gewogs of Bardo, Goshing, Shingkhar and Zhemgang Throm did not have any aspiring candidates.

Close to 1,300 voters showed up for the Dhamngoi Dzomdu in Zhemgang.
