A CCTV camera made the job of Police in Trashigang much easier, after a burglar was caught on camera trying to break into a shop. For the first time, the Trashigang police used the CCTV footage to identify and arrest the suspect.

The miscreant, a construction labourer, appears at around 1:30 in morning and tries to break into the shop where the CCTV cameras are installed. After failing to break in, the miscreant disappears for about an hour. At around 2:30 AM, the burglar is seen walking back from where he enters  with a shiny metal box.

He breaks into another shop and manages to get hold of the money box. The box had around Nu.13, 500 cash and Nu.4,000 worth of mobile vouchers.

The police, after using the CCTV footage, identified the suspect, and later caught him at Kharungla, near Wamrong. The suspect was fleeing towards Wamrong, when the police arrested him. The suspect has confessed to the crime and police recovered the stolen items.

The police in Trashigang have advised the shopkeepers not to keep the cash and mobile vouchers together.

This the third burglary case recorded in Trashigang in the last three years.
