Ensuring access to clean drinking water, effective management of wastes and urban roads without potholes are some of the top priorities of the Thimphu Thromde reflected in this year’s Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for the fiscal year 2019-20.

The prime minister signed the APA with the Thimphu thromde today.

The thromde targets to provide clean drinking water 24×7 to its residents.  For waste management, Thromde plans to establish 10 waste drop-in centres and 50 households are already identified for the distribution of dustbins. The Thromde with support from the government will also look into the sewerage system to ensure the drain water from overflowing on the roads especially during monsoon.

The thromde is targeting to achieve 100 per cent pothole-free roads. Also, develop infrastructure for people with disabilities.

“Given the government’s assurance of support, we are all excited, to fulfil all the targets. All the people in thromde will strive to work towards the target,” Kinlay Dorjee, the Thrompon, said.

In the APA, there are a total of 12 indicators, of which seven are the top priority indicators and five mandatory indicators.

The other five mandatory indicators include enhancing integrity system, ensuring annual budget utilisation, monitor and report water flagship program, strengthen APA implementation and to promote Dzongkha in offices through by writing official letters in Dzongkha.

The APA was also signed between the Dasho Thrompon and the Executive Secretary of the Thimphu Thromde
