Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley arrived in Paro this morning after attending the “High Level Meeting on Well-being and Happiness: Defining a New Economic Paradigm” in New York, USA. At the airport, Lyonchhoen was received by the Economic Affairs Minister, Khandu Wangchuk, Health Minister Zangley Dukpa and senior government officials.
The three day conference was the first ever conference of this magnitude to be hosted by the Royal Government of Bhutan at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
The meeting saw discussion on drawing up a new global well-being and sustainability based economic paradigm to replace system that is in rapid melt down worldwide.
Close to 1,000 eminent participants including United Nations Secretary General, the president of Costa Rica and Nobel Laureates attended the meeting.
