Udzorong gets PoL Centre

Udzorong is the first gewog in Trashigang to get a Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (PoL) service centre. The centre, established by the Farm Machinery Corporation Limited (FMCL), was inaugurated on Wednesday.

About a hundred excited people from the gewog gathered for the opening.

The centre will immensely benefit the villagers, who earlier had to travel all the way to Trashigang, 60 kilometres away, for LPG refills.

Some people in the gewog still depend on firewood for cooking. They are now thinking of switching to LPG.

“We have been using firewood until now. I think using LPG would be more convenient,” Tashi Lhamo, a villager, said.

There are about 20 people in the gewog who own bolero vehicles. They will, too, not have to travel all the way to Trashigang to refuel tanks.

“It will save both time and money for us now,” Tshewang Tashi said.

The villagers can also hire farm tools from the centre.

Works are underway to establish PoL service centres in few other gewogs as well.
