Wangchuck Bridge inaugurated in Monggar

Wangchuck Bridge inaugurated in Monggar---His Royal Highness, Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, accompanied by Ashi Yeatso Lhamo, graced the inauguration of the Wangchuck Zam in Monggar, yesterday. The bridge, one of the longest in the country, is located at Yangbari under Gongdue Gewog. The inaugural is dedicated to the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

The bridge will connect the two Gewogs of Gongdu and Silambi to Nanglam in Pema Gatshel and to the Dzongkhag head quarter in Monggar.

During the inauguration, His Royal Highness granted audience and Tokha to over a thousand people gathered and personally interacted with them.

As part of the ceremony, various entertainment programs were performed by the public.

Wangchuck Bridge inaugurated in Monggar-The Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, Gautam Bambawale, the National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Zangpo, Works and Human Settlement Minister, Dorji Choden, members of parliament, and senior government officials attended the function.

The bridge was constructed at a cost of about Nu 57 M funded by the Government of India. The bridge has a carrying capacity of about 24 metric tons.
