Coinciding with the 42nd Birthday of His Majesty The King, the COVID-19 vaccine registration for children aged between five to 11 years will start from today.

As per a notification from the Health Ministry, the registration can be done through Bhutan Vaccine System and on-the-spot registration will also be available at the time of vaccination.

The Pfizer vaccines for children are expected to arrive in the country on the 28th of this month. Today, there are more than 83,000 children aged between 5 to 11 years.

The National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group or NI-TAG after reviewing the vaccine efficacy and safety recommended the health ministry to go ahead with the vaccine procurement.

Meanwhile, the country’s Drug Regulatory Authority issued the emergency use authorisation of the Pfizer Paediatric Vaccines on Friday, last week.
