OAG-KetamineCaseThe Office of Attorney General (OAG) has closed the Ketamine case. The two Bhutanese and an Indian involved in the case were released after the OAG found no legal basis to prosecute them. The case was closed in October.

The OAG had learned that Ketamine has not been listed under the controlled drugs category in Narcotics drugs, psychotropic substances and substance abuse act 2005. It is listed as one among the prescribed drugs according to the Medicines Act 2003.

They were apprehended in September last year as soon as they had landed at Paro International Airport. The case came into focus after a Bhutanese woman was detained at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok for carrying Ketamine. She has been prosecuted by the Thai authorities.
