Students in Bjeezam Primary School under Nubi Gewog in Trongsa are all smiles today. Now with the start of the day-feeding programme in their school, the burden to prepare breakfast or pack lunch, being late to the school, failing to complete academic homework on time and being in a sleepy mode when reaching home can be avoided hereafter.
Some are as young as six years old but walk two to three hours to reach the school and back home. Heavy homework and tedious journey sometimes to and from the school makes them directly jump on the bed before the night falls. But now their story angle has changed due to the government’s day-feeding programme in all schools.
