Private sector needs more support: BCCI’s new president

BBCIPresident-PhubZamThe new President of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Phub Zam wants the government to provide more support to the private sector.

She said private sector is the engine of growth and that she would like to appeal to the government to give as much importance to this sector.

“As a business community, we feel that a lot can be done. The government has been cooperative but still there are some areas where we need to make the government aware that a bit more can be done.”

The Chairman of Yarkay Construction, Phub Zam is the first woman to be elected as the BCC’s president.

Two vice presidents; Tashi Dorji and Tandin Wangchuk were also elected, yesterday.

Fifty one business representatives from across the country cast their votes.
