The Chief of Police, Brigadier Kipchu Namgyel, today, reiterated that the police force unanimously supports the removal of the orderly system. He said many people believe that the police officials were against the government’s decision to remove the orderly system and give allowances to the officers, “This is not true,” he said.

The issue had cropped up during the National Assembly’s deliberation when one of the MPs had said the orderly system in the armed forces is still prevalent.

It has been three years since the system was abolished.

“During our meetings, most of the officers supported the decision. Last time even at Olathang, during our annual meeting, most of the officers voted in favor of removing the system,” said Brigadier Kipchu Namgyel. He said all the other officers including him are in favour of removing the orderly system. “We have also forwarded our intentions to the Home Ministry”

Brigadier Kipchu Namgyel was speaking at the promotion event of more than 300 non commission officials of the Royal Bhutan Police. The Chief of Police congratulated the officers and reminded them of their duty towards the Tsa-Wa-Sum.
