Ali Bin Al Hussein+ jordanThe Prince of Jordan, Ali Bin Al Hussein, who arrived in the country today, attended the opening of “Play for Life”, a grassroots football program in Thimphu, today.

The grassroots football programme, supported by the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP), will target 3,000 students and 200 teachers from across the country.

Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein is FIFA vice-president, representing Asia. He is also the Chairman of the Asian Football Development Project. The project, “Life for Play”, aims to reach out to football enthusiast across the country providing equal opportunities while encouraging younger girls and boys to play the game.

Prince Ali said people come together through sports.  “It is a universal language. You at the different continent, we speak different languages, we come from different areas, sometimes desert, sometimes jungles, sometimes mountains but at the end of the day through sports we all come together and we can represent and proud of ourselves”.

AFDP is a non-profit youth commission founded and chaired and chaired by Prince Ali and headquartered in Amman. It focuses its need-base support on strengthening football developments as well as promoting social development through football across Asia.
