His Majesty granted an audience to the sixth batch of Desuups, comprising of a 125 teachers, yesterday. The teachers had undergone the Desuung training from January 21 to February 2.
His Majesty, addressing the batch, shared that the Desuung training programme had been initiated after repeated requests from graduates who wanted to serve the country in times of difficulty and to spread a spirit of volunteerism.
His Majesty explained to the Desuups that “Desuung” meant Guardians of the Nation’s peace and well-being.
As, the sixth batch of Desuups were all teachers, His Majesty urged them to truly love their profession in order to fulfill their duty as educators, and to inspire as role models.
His Majesty also shared with the Desuups that Bhutanese democracy, and culture and tradition make Bhutan very special, and should never be taken for granted.
