The National Council today deliberated the Contract Bill of Bhutan 2012. The Contract Bill will act as a separate law that will benefit the contractors.
The Chairperson of the Legislative Committee, Kuenlay Tshering, said once the law is in place, lot of difficulties faced by the parties involved in a contract will be resolved. He said in business activities, different parties and individual want to make an agreement. “When there is a breach of such agreement they will have to apply for remedies. They will have to go to the court or the arbitration centre,” he said, adding parties lose so much time in trying to conclude the breach of contract. That is where the Contract Act will come into play, said MP Kuenlay Tshering.
The Bill was first introduced in this session by the Works and Human Settlement Minister, Yeshey Zimba.
