Students in Bangkok on a trip sponsored by Drukair

Forty four class eight students from across the country left for Bangkok today on a five-day trip. The students are His Majesty The King’s Kidu recipients.

A girl and a boy each from 20 districts, including four students from the Wangsel Institute, were selected for the trip.

Most of them are flying in a plane for the first time.

For 18 of the students from remote areas, their journey started from Yongphula and Gelegphu when they took a domestic flight to Paro.

“I felt really proud and excited the moment I heard I have been selected to go to Bangkok,” Tashi Yangzom said.

“I am really happy to have been selected to visit Bangkok. My family and friends are excited too,” Nim Tshering Tamang said.

In Bangkok, the students will visit Thai schools. They will also be taken around Bangkok city and to a beach to see the ocean.

The trip is sponsored by the national airlines Drukair. It plans to make such trips an annual event.
