Rover scouts attend Messengers of Peace workshop

To provide a better understanding about the Messengers of Peace (MoP) and to strengthen the Rovering programme at colleges and training institutes, the Scouts and Culture Education Division under the Department of Youth and Sports (DYS) is organizing a workshop on MoP in the capital. MoP is a global scouting initiative, which encourages Scouts to do community service and to share their experiences to the rest of people.

Feeding programme started in some schools in Trongsa

Four primary schools and one lower secondary school in Trongsa started with the school feeding programme from today.

Suspected dengue fever outbreak in Dhosoom

Suspected outbreak of dengue fever was reported in Dhosoom, Trashi Yangtse. 24 patients were admitted in Trashi Yangtse hospital while two were referred to Monggar Regional Referral Hospital. This is the first time a suspected dengue outbreak has occurred in the Dzongkhag.

One of the beneficiaries of the school feeding programme is Jangsa Primary School, a remote school in Langchenphu Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar. The school started its feeding programme yesterday. The move is believed to benefit both the students as well as the vegetable group of the village.

Multi-sports complex in Bumthang nearing completion

In a few weeks time, Bumthang will have the country's largest multi-sports complex. The construction of the structure is finally nearing completion after the completion date was extended twice, for various reasons since the works began in 2017. 

BEO confesses to forging bank statements

According to the police, the owners of Bhutan Employment Overseas confessed, during interrogation, to forging bank statements of the students who were sent to Japan through the "Learn and Earn" programme.

OAG requests court for the maximum prison term in Boomdeling gup case.

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is charging the 46-year-old Boomdeling Gup in Trashi Yangtse for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The OAG forwarded the case to the District Court on Tuesday.

Plans to attract visitors to Tsimasham town

After the opening of the Damchu-Chhukha bypass in July last year, the Tsimasham town has almost dried up. The town, which was once a popular place for travellers to stop for lunch, now hardly gets any visitors. But now, the locals hope to attract tourists as a group of students work to promote the place, as part of their project-based learning.
